Tibetan Buddhism has been introduced into Kangding for more than 1000 years. It was once influenced by the integration of politics and religion in Xizang. Religious beliefs have long been deeply rooted in the people. The five sects of Tibetan Buddhism, namely Red, Yellow, Flower, Black, and White, are distributed throughout the county, and the temple buildings are magnificent, earning a certain reputation in the Tibetan region.

Tibetan Buddhism has its own religious festivals and activities. The religious festivals and activities of various temples in Kangding vary depending on the sect and temple size, but there are also similarities in general. Among them, the birthday of Shakyamuni on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month (Bathing Buddha Festival) is particularly grand. On this day, all temples hold grand ceremonies and prayers, making it the "Mountain Turning Festival" and "Spring Outing Day" for the people of Kangding. There is also the Buddhist Lantern Festival (commonly known as the Yuangen Festival), which falls on October 25th of the lunar calendar. Gelugpa temples, such as Anjie Temple, light tens of thousands of butter Yuangen lanterns on all the walls and eaves of the temple, shining brightly like a star bridge fire city, which is very spectacular. All believers in the city come to the temple to worship, and the people of Kangding also call Yuangen Festival the "Lantern Festival".
