Corn flour steamed bread is a common food in ordinary households in the city of Lu, where many small businesses and stalls often steam and eat corn bread. Peng Dachun and his wife, both from Ya'an, used to help people in Kang in their early years and were good at making snacks. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, rice in Lucheng was expensive, and it was known that Lucheng loved to eat corn and also had a habit of eating "Jiaoba" (a snack made of flour to make crispy meat filled kang cakes). They used fresh meat with golden hooks as filling and imitated the method of "Jiaoba" by using high-quality cornmeal to create corn bread called "Golden Hook Kang Cake". With its long and tempting aroma, salty and crispy taste, it became popular among diners who queued up to buy it.
